Job description
Overview

This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.

The School of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking to recruit a committed, adaptable individual to join our experienced team of academic staff as a 1.0 FTE Lecturer. You must be sufficiently proficient in major programming languages, have a good understanding of software development principles, and be able to adapt to teaching from level 3 to level 7. Most of the teaching duties for the post will be in the area of Cybersecurity at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, although this may vary. We are seeking candidates with practical experience in a range of cybersecurity and forensics technical skills, such as network security, penetration testing, defensive programming, and forensics experience in data extraction and analysis. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with a PhD in Cybersecurity related areas or with equivalent experience gained in industry.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching face-to-face and online, setting assessments, marking, and giving feedback.
  • Supervision of final year and postgraduate projects.
  • Acting as a personal tutor to provide pastoral support to students.
  • Supporting students in competitions, work-based learning, and other enterprise opportunities.
  • Contributing to School strategic subject-based, professional or pedagogic research and development and other scholarly activities to support teaching.
  • Developing external research profile and contributing to one or more of the School's multidisciplinary Research Groups.
Qualifications and experience
  • Proficiency in major programming languages and a good understanding of software development principles.
  • Ability to adapt to teaching at levels 3 to 7.
  • Practical experience in cybersecurity and forensics technical skills (e.g., network security, penetration testing, defensive programming, data extraction and analysis).
  • PhD in Cybersecurity related areas or equivalent industry experience is welcome.
