Job summary

GEDU Global Education invites applications for Lecturers to teach across undergraduate Computing modules at Bath Spa University partnership. The role is on-site in Leeds with weekday, evening, and weekend teaching to fit the programme.

You should hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field (PhD desirable) and UK HE lecturing experience. Senior candidates with PGCert Academic Practice or HEA Fellowship preferred. The department supports professional growth with a strong focus on student success.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant subject (PhD desirable).
  • Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
  • Extensive knowledge of two or more of: programming, databases, cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity, AI/ML, operating systems, UI/UX.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess student work, ensuring learning outcomes are met.
  • Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate.
  • Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.
  • Undertake staff development activities and maintain student records with accuracy.

Department:Academic/Bath Spa University partnership (BSU)

Location:Leeds (On-Site)

Type of Contract:Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

The role:Weare currently seekingLecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of ourBSc (Hons) Computingprogramme. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends.

Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you'll be doing:As a Lecturer in Computing at Global Banking School, you will deliver modules based around the three main themes of the programme: Technology, Software, and Data.You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials, that will equip students with an understandingof database systems, internet technologies, data, cyber security, networking, and business information systems. You will undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students and keep up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met
  • Developing, updating, and improving course materials as appropriate
  • Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials
  • Actively engaging in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices
  • Working towards a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and student progression

About you:

  • You will hold a Master's degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable)
  • You will have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area
  • You will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas:
  • Programming and software development
  • Database systems
  • Cloud computing
  • Networking
  • Cybersecurity
  • IoT and emerging technologies
  • Business IT systems
  • IT management
  • AI and Machine Learning
  • Operating Systems
  • UI/UX
  • You will have experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
  • You will have experience of accurate reporting and abilityto maintain thorough and organised student records
  • You will be able to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines
  • You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills
  • You will be able to work with diverse groups of people
  • You will hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
  • You will have experience of design / development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent
