Job summary

Edge Hill University is seeking a Lecturer in Clinical Skills and Simulation to contribute to the delivery of the core curriculum across MBChB, MBChB with Foundation Year, and MSc Physician Associate Studies programmes.

You will design and deliver realistic simulation scenarios, supporting students in preparation for MLA and CPSA, while collaborating with the Medical School, NHS Trusts and community partners.

  • Teaching experience on medical, physician associate and/or other health professions programmes in a higher education or clinical training setting.
  • Understanding of quality assurance processes for PSRBs regulated programmes.

About the Role

As Lecturer in Clinical Skills and Simulation, you will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery our modules and other areas of our core curriculum depending on your areas of expertise and experience. Working closely with colleagues in the Medical School, NHS Trusts and community partners to deliver authentic, patient centred education.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering clinical and communication skills teaching across MBChB, MBChB with Foundation Year, and MSc Physician Associate Studies programmes
  • Designing and delivering realistic simulation scenarios to prepare student for modern clinical practice
  • Preparing student doctors for the Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) and Clinical and Professional Skills Assessment (CPSA)

You will contribute to training the next generation of doctors and physician associates through innovative clinical skills teaching and realistic simulation scenarios.

You will be expected to contribute to the research activities of one of our Research Units and meet the qualitative and quantitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence exercise.

About You

You will hold a current registration with a healthcare professional body. You will have teaching experience on medical, physician associate and/or other health professions programmes in a higher education or a clinical training setting. You will have an understanding of quality assurance processes for PSRBs regulated programmes.

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. An established or promising research profile.

To be successful you will further enrich our student’s experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and extensive experience of professional practice. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of curriculum development within the new Medical School.

It is important to note that the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced adult disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and that this will form part of the conditions of offer of employment.
