Job description
About the role

The key responsibilities of the role include leading on the development of impactful research within chemical engineering and its application to circular and sustainable process development within renewable energy, nuclear, resource efficiency / sustainability, critical materials circularity, ecodesign, and environmental systems. You will be expected to conduct world‑class research that complements existing departmental and Faculty activities, securing research grant funding to support your programme and disseminating your work in high‑quality journals. The role also involves developing national and international partnerships with industry, academic institutions, and other relevant organisations to maximise research impact. Additionally, you will support postdoctoral researchers, as well as PhD, MSc, and undergraduate students, and contribute to the teaching of current or new modules relevant to the post.

This is an open‑ended role.

Salary is £54, - £64, per annum inclusive of London allowance.

The key skills required for the post are a first degree and a postgraduate degree in engineering, sciences or other relevant disciplines, or equivalent qualifications and / or experience, with the first degree preferably in chemical engineering; an appropriate background and research expertise to make contributions at the forefront of research with emphasis on the areas of relevance to the post; combined with excellent people skills and the ability to build good relationships with students, colleagues and external partners.
