Full Time, 35 hours per week

Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.

Dundee Business School is one of four Departments within the Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business (DIB). The Faculty was formed in August 2024 with Dundee Business School joining three existing Departments: Games and Arts, Game Technology and Mathematics, and Cybersecurity. The Faculty is the home of Abertay’s degree programmes in law, accounting and finance, business and marketing, cybersecurity, applied computer science, computer games and digital arts. Abertay was the first University in the world to offer degrees in Computer Games Technology and Ethical Hacking, and we recognised as leaders internationally in games and nationally in cybersecurity. With the addition of Dundee Business School into the Faculty, we are now extending our academic team to develop our national and international standing.

The University now seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Business

Reporting to the Head of Dundee Business School, you will contribute to the excellent teaching experience and impactful research and knowledge exchange within the business subject area. We encourage cross-disciplinary subject knowledge and working, e.g. an entrepreneurship and/or innovation angle to international business management or working across business analytics and Fintech.

In addition to the standard Grade 7/8 Lecturer role descriptions (details below), we are interested in candidates who:

  • Have a track record in some mix of digital transformation, innovation, entrepreneurship, project management and/or professional skills development, and a willingness to engage with relevant stakeholders to enhance our curriculum and our research and knowledge exchange;
  • Recognise the importance of technology and innovation to the future of international business, where we would welcome applicants with relevant experience, research- or industry-based experience.
  • In addition to bullet points above, we are keenly interested in individuals who are comfortable and interested in teaching across general business modules and/or online and distance learning at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

The role requires a

  • Student‑centred and inclusive educator – designs accessible learning, uses best practice pedagogy & principles, and closes attainment gaps through targeted feedback.
  • Digitally fluent teacher – confident with VLEs, digital pedagogy; comfortable delivering online, hybrid, and distance learning.
  • Research‑active and impact‑oriented – curious, persistent, and methodical; links scholarship to practice and KE/impact pathways.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – opportunity‑spotter who translates ideas into pilots and projects; comfortable with ambiguity and iteration.
  • Collaborative partnership‑builder – nurtures relationships with employers, start‑ups, and civic bodies to co‑create curriculum and projects.
