Job summary

Cheshire College South & West is seeking a Lecturer in Business at the Crewe Campus to deliver high-quality teaching and curriculum design within the Business department. The role is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time contract from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027.

You will design engaging courses, support students’ learning, maintain records, and contribute to quality assurance. The college emphasizes professional development and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Teacher trained (PGCE, DTLLS or CertEd) or working towards.
• GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths.
• Degree in relevant subject (or equivalent is desirable).
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment.
• Up-to-date occupational experience.
• Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and interactive lessons across a range of business subjects such as management, marketing, finance and entrepreneurship.
• Plan, prepare, and develop course materials and assessments aligned with the curriculum and industry standards.
• Support and guide students through their learning journey, providing feedback, pastoral care, and career advice.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement in line with college policies.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to enhance course content and promote best practices.
• Stay up to date with current developments in business education and industry trends to ensure curriculum relevance.
• Contribute to quality assurance processes, including course reviews and accreditation activities.
• Participate in departmental meetings, staff development, and college events as required.
• Undertake other duties including tutorial support and associated administrative tasks;
• Promote and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons; and
• Marketing and promotion of the provision to employers and stakeholders.

Role Overview

We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and from current industry practitioners who do not have a teaching qualification. Anyone joining the College will be part of a Lecturer Development Programme which provides staff with a range of support and training based on previous experience and individual need. The programme will offer a range of support and development opportunities, including inductions related to all College systems and processes, an assigned curriculum mentor and regular 1-2-1 support from the Quality team. Industry experts who do not currently hold a teaching qualification will be supported to complete a L4 Certificate in Education and Training and will have opportunities to complete a L5 Diploma in Education and Training.
