Job summary

Hull College is seeking a Lecturer in Brickwork to inspire learners across brickwork programmes, sharing industry knowledge and practical experience to help students build skills and confidence for their careers. You will plan and deliver engaging teaching, contribute to curriculum development, and support learners with high standards.

The post is 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, with a salary of £26,772–£40,052 p.a. and 42 days leave plus bank holidays and Christmas closure.

Qualifications

• Specialism in Brickwork at level 3 or above.
• Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards.
• GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
• Experience working within Further/Higher education.
• Experience of course leadership.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in Brickwork using engaging, interactive methods.
• Lead, coordinate and support course activities to meet curriculum targets and funding requirements.
• Plan, prepare and update teaching documentation including schemes of work and lesson plans using Canvas.
• Facilitate academic tutorials, contribute to marketing and enrolment events.
• Assess, monitor and provide timely feedback to students; lead IV/IQA processes and QA activities.

Make a Real Impact

As Lecturer in Brickwork, you will work closely with curriculum leaders, teachers and senior leaders to drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment. You will support, challenge and coach staff, ensuring high expectations are embedded and that quality processes deliver meaningful impact for learners.

• Deliver high-quality, engaging and challenging teaching and learning, employing innovative and interactive teaching methods to ensure stretch, challenge, and engagement of students of all ages and abilities
• Leading, coordinating and supporting course activities to achieve curriculum area targets, including collation and submission of financial claims to appropriate funding bodies and partners as required
• Planning, preparing and updating all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials using Canvas
• Facilitating academic tutorials, contributing to marketing, promotion. Recruitment and interviewing of students and participating in open events, schools tasters and enrolment events.
• Assessing, monitoring and recording timely feedback to students, leading IV/IQA processes, and contributing to quality assurance processes and curriculum design within the area.
• Maintaining up to date knowledge of the subject specialism by attending appropriate professional/ vocational updating.
• Attend meetings and communicating with colleagues within the curriculum area as and when required
• Leading, coordinating and supporting course activities that will support the achievement of curriculum area targets. Accurately carry out the qualification completion process within the departmental systems in a timely manner

About You

• Specialism in Brickwork at level 3 and above
• Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards
• GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
• Experience working within Further/Higher education
• Experience of course leadership
• The ability to work as a professional team member and able to liaise with tutors, employers, awarding bodies and other agencies
• The ability to work flexibly, including evening and weekend work
