Job summary

Hull College invites applications for the role of Lecturer in Brickwork. The post is 35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, with a salary of £26,772-£40,052 per annum.

The role focuses on inspiring learners with industry knowledge and practical Brickwork skills. You will deliver engaging teaching across Brickwork programmes, contribute to curriculum development and support learner progression, underpinned by high standards and assessment.

Qualifications

• Specialism in Brickwork at level 3+ and above.
• Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards.
• GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
• Experience in Further/Higher Education and course leadership.
• Ability to work in a professional team and liaise with tutors, employers and awarding bodies.
• Flexibility including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning with innovative methods.
• Lead and coordinate course activities to meet targets and submit funding claims.
• Plan and update teaching documentation including schemes of work and Canvas materials.
• Facilitate tutorials, contribute to marketing, recruitment and events.
• Assess and provide timely feedback; lead quality assurance processes and curriculum design.
• Maintain up-to-date Brickwork knowledge.
• Attend meetings and communicate with curriculum colleagues.
• Lead activities to achieve targets and manage qualification completion.

Make a Real Impact

As Lecturer in Brickwork, you will work closely with curriculum leaders, teachers and senior leaders to drive continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment. You will support, challenge and coach staff, ensuring high expectations are embedded and that quality processes deliver meaningful impact for learners.

You will:

• Deliver high-quality, engaging and challenging teaching and learning, employing innovative and interactive teaching methods to ensure stretch, challenge, and engagement of students of all ages and abilities
• Leading, coordinating and supporting course activities to achieve curriculum area targets, including collation and submission of financial claims to appropriate funding bodies and partners as required
• Planning, preparing and updating all relevant teaching documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and online learning materials using Canvas
• Facilitating academic tutorials, contributing to marketing, promotion. Recruitment and interviewing of students and participating in open events, schools tasters and enrolment events.
• Assessing, monitoring and recording timely feedback to students, leading IV/IQA processes, and contributing to quality assurance processes and curriculum design within the area.
• Maintaining up to date knowledge of the subject specialism by attending appropriate professional/ vocational updating.
• Attend meetings and communicating with colleagues within the curriculum area as and when required
• Leading, coordinating and supporting course activities that will support the achievement of curriculum area targets. Accurately carry out the qualification completion process within the departmental systems in a timely manner

About You

You will be an experienced and credible education professional with:

• Specialism in Brickworkat level 3 and above
• Cert. Ed/PGCE or willingness to work towards
• GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
• Experience working within Further/Higher education
• Experience of course leadership
• The ability to work as a professional team member and able to liaise with tutors, employers, awarding bodies and other agencies
• The ability to work flexibly, including evening and weekend work
