Lecturer in Agriculture

  • Job Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week

We are seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Agriculture to join our team at Essex. This role involves teaching primarily Agriculture subjects to students on full-time, part-time, and short courses. You will also contribute to the management, assessment, and recruitment of students, ensuring their academic and personal development.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver theoretical and practical sessions primarily to FE students, including those aged 14-16.
  • Act as a manager for a group of full-time students, providing guidance and support on academic and personal development.
  • Assist in the development of Functional and Key Skills Entitlement in preparation for exams, portfolios, and overall student success.
  • Implement administrative procedures to support academic practice, including maintaining records of training, lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessments.
  • Deliver or assist in the delivery of evening, weekend, and holiday courses as appropriate, up to a maximum of 23 hours per week.
  • Participate in the planning and development of relevant courses and programmes.
  • Actively engage in student recruitment and assist in raising the profile of courses at Writtle College.
  • Attend technical updating courses regularly and maintain a record of continuing professional development according to CPD requirements.
  • Comply with Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR requirements in all working practices.
