Salary: £31,930 – £36,878 per annum (Pro‑Rata) with a market supplement of up to £3,000 for successful candidates
Contract type: Permanent – Part Time
Hours: 29.6 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

About The Role

We are looking for a Lecturer in English to join the English and Maths department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Teaching & Assessment – Deliver high‑quality English teaching across various levels, prepare schemes of work, assess student progress and ensure awarding body standards are met.
  • Student Support & Progression – Guide students through tutorials and feedback, helping them achieve their potential and progress academically and vocationally.
  • Curriculum Development – Contribute to course innovation, develop engaging learning materials and support the creation of new programmes aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Quality & Administration – Maintain accurate records, meet funding and quality assurance requirements and participate in course reviews, team meetings and student feedback activities.
  • College Engagement & Compliance – Support marketing events, uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety standards and contribute to the wider college strategy and student experience.
About You
  • Qualifications & Subject Expertise – Relevant degree or Level 5 qualification in English, Certificate in Education/PGCE (or willingness to achieve) and GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A–C).
  • Teaching Experience – Recent experience teaching and assessing GCSE English, strong classroom management and up‑to‑date knowledge of subject developments and awarding body standards.
  • Communication & Collaboration – Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; able to build positive relationships across the College and contribute effectively to team goals.
  • Organisation & Administration – Highly organised with strong planning skills, confident in using Microsoft Office and able to complete administrative tasks accurately and on time.
  • Professionalism & Values – Committed to safeguarding, EDI, continuous development and promoting the College’s values and reputation; flexible and willing to work across locations with a valid driving licence.
