Job summary

The Bedford College Group is hiring a Lecturer in Engineering for Corby Campus. The role involves delivering CAD, technical drawing and general engineering content, with schemes of work planning, resources, assessment and learner support. You will also participate in course development, meetings and mandatory safeguarding.

Salary ranges £33,048–£38,169 per annum, permanent full-time, 37 hours/week. This position requires degree-level qualifications, Level 2 English/maths and an Assessor Award

Qualifications

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Level 3 English and maths required.
  • Assessor Award or willingness to work towards.
  • QTLS-equivalent or similar qualifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging learning in CAD, technical drawing and general engineering.
  • Plan schemes of work, design lessons, prepare resources and assess learners.
  • Monitor attendance, provide feedback, support inclusion and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to course development, attend meetings and manage admin duties.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety and CPD responsibilities.

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hour per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Engineering to join our Engineering department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery – Deliver engaging, up‑to‑date learning in CAD, Technical Drawing and General Engineering, using real‑world applications and differentiated activities to support learner progress and achievement.
  • Planning, Resources & Assessment – Plan schemes of work, design lessons, prepare resources, manage classroom safety, set and mark assignments, maintain accurate records and support workplace assessment where required.
  • Learner Support, Behaviour & Inclusion – Monitor attendance, provide feedback, offer pastoral support, promote equality and diversity, manage behaviour positively and create a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Quality, Administration & Professional Engagement – Contribute to course development, attend meetings, complete administrative duties, participate in marketing events, supervise visits and liaise with awarding bodies and external partners.
  • Professional Standards, Compliance & Development – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and data‑protection responsibilities, engage in CPD, maintain industry‑relevant knowledge and work toward required qualifications (QTLS‑equivalent, Level 2 English/maths, Assessor Award).
About You
  • Qualifications & Vocational Expertise – Degree‑level and Level 3 qualifications in a relevant subject area, Level 2 English and maths, Assessor Award (or willingness to work towards), and up‑to‑date vocational industry skills supported by relevant professional experience.
  • Teaching Capability Across Levels – Ability to teach a range of vocational subjects using varied teaching and learning approaches, incorporating the latest industry technology and applying current quality assurance standards.
  • Interpersonal Skills & Learner Motivation – Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to motivate, inspire and support learners, delivering courses through multiple learning modes while maintaining a positive, learner‑centred approach.
  • Professionalism, Organisation & Continuous Development – Organised, reflective practitioner with strong time‑management skills, committed to personal CPD, maintaining specialist knowledge and working flexibly as part of a high‑performing team.
  • Safeguarding, Flexibility & Compliance – Committed to safeguarding and appropriate boundaries, upholding health & safety requirements, working flexibly across sites and continually updating skills and knowledge to meet role expectations.
