Job Description

South Devon College's Building Services Team are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to deliver inspirational teaching, learning, and assessment in Electrical Installation and related subjects. This is a combined role and involves both classroom-based delivery and workplace reviews and assessment of apprentices. You will coach and support students to achieve their qualifications and develop the skills needed for successful careers in the electrical industry. The ideal candidate will bring energy, passion, and industry expertise to create a dynamic learning environment that encourages ambition, confidence, and excellence in every student.

The successful candidate will hold a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Installation, with at least 5 years relevant industry experience. Experience in coaching and mentoring and an understanding of student‑centred learning are desirable. Excellent organisational skills and a methodical approach to working are required.

Successful candidates may be able to apply for a recruitment and retention payment through the Department for Education’s Targeted Retention Incentive, provided they are within their first five years of teaching within Further Education. For the 2024‑2025 academic year, the targeted retention incentive payment ranges from £2,000 to £6,000.
