Role

Lecturer / Course Manager – English

Location: Northwest England

Contract: Thursday and Friday until end of term

Salary: £30-35 per hour

Are you passionate about English education and committed to helping learners succeed? We’re seeking a dynamic and engaging Lecturer / Course Manager in English to deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences, primarily focused on GCSE English Language, with potential delivery of Functional Skills English.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver inclusive, ambitious lessons that support student progress and achievement.
  • Apply principles of effective delivery including structured classroom management, retrieval practice, modelling, scaffolded tasks, and formative assessment.
  • Use technology and diverse resources to create student-led learning experiences.
  • Track learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and contribute to a high-performing team.
  • Reflect on teaching practice and seek opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Represent the department at learner events and build strong relationships with students.
  • Support wider departmental responsibilities and provide cover teaching when needed.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety in all aspects of the role.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree or professional qualification in a relevant field.
  • Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Recognised teaching qualification.
  • DBS on the update service
  • Immediate availability
Desirable
  • Experience teaching in Further Education.
  • Proven success in a similar teaching role.
  • Experience delivering GCSE or Functional Skills English.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
