Job Overview

The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a professionally accredited registered psychotherapist and/or counsellor. The School requires a qualified practitioner to teach on our Level 4 Adult part time day (Tuesdays and/or Thursdays), but may also include teaching across other Counselling programmes, including Levels 2, 3, and Level 5 (Wednesdays).

Responsibilities

You’ll take responsibility for teaching, marking and providing tutorial support for Counselling courses and you’ll contribute to all aspects of the work of the Section/School and this will include occasional ‘out of hours’ activities (such as selection days, interviews, and open events).

Qualifications
  • Professional qualification to practice in Counselling or Psychotherapy (minimum L6 Diploma or Honours Degree).
  • Practicing member/accredited of BACP, UKCP or an equivalent professional body (or willing to gain this).
  • Minimum 3 years’ post‑qualification experience.
  • Teaching qualification (or willing to work towards) with experience teaching counselling to at least level 3 or above, or a similar level/on a similar subject.
  • Supervision qualification or experience of providing clinical supervision to groups or individuals in a counselling setting.
  • Ability to assess students’ work/skills and be a creative, resourceful and effective educator able to convey knowledge, support the development of skills and maintain boundaries whilst providing warm and empathic relationships with students.
  • Ideally familiar with national educational standards and BACP awarding/validating body requirements for the appropriate level.
