Lecturer – Business (HE Only – College Online)

Role: Lecturer – Business (HE only – College Online)

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway College

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (Pro‑Rata) DOE and qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro‑Rata) plus bank holidays, teacher’s pension, retail and leisure discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 14.8 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

Requirements: UK based, right to work in the UK, no sponsorship.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Business to join our Business department at The Bedford College Group.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Assessment – Deliver high‑quality online lessons for HTQs in Business and Leadership & Management (Levels 4‑5), ensuring compliance with Pearson and HTQ standards.
  • Online Delivery & Learner Support – Manage virtual classrooms, maintain accurate records, monitor engagement and provide timely interventions for adult learners studying remotely.
  • Specialist Content – Teach leadership principles, business environments, digital business practices, operational planning and introductory finance, adapting materials for online learning.
  • Quality & Compliance – Oversee assessment processes, participate in IV/IQA, maintain CPD and uphold safeguarding, EDI and health & safety requirements.
  • College Engagement – Contribute to meetings, CPD, enrichment activities and employer engagement to support learner progression and enhance College Online provision.
About you
  • Qualifications – Degree in Business, Leadership & Management (or related field), recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve) and evidence of CPD.
  • Knowledge & Expertise – Strong understanding of business principles, HTQ/Higher National frameworks, digital business practices, operational planning and online pedagogy.
  • Skills – Excellent online communication and presentation skills, ability to simplify complex concepts, strong organisational and time‑management skills within a 0.4 FTE role.
  • Technical Competence – High digital literacy (Teams, SharePoint, VLEs), strong assessment and feedback skills and ability to motivate diverse adult learners.
  • Professional Standards – Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and CPD; flexibility for evenings and employer engagement activities.
