We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic academic to join us in supporting the development and delivery of modules within the Building Control subject discipline of built environment education. You will be a key member of the academic community, acting as the subject area expert and providing a high-quality learning experience for our students. You will engage with employers, industry forums, and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs), ensuring the Building Control programme is up to date with industry requirements and skills needs.

This is a brilliant opportunity to help make a real difference in the built environment sector, ensuring successful and effective outcomes for our students.

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Be the subject area expert and advocate for Building Control within the Academic team and the wider University
  • Work with the Apprenticeships team to ensure the Building Control degree apprenticeship students are supported appropriately, according to their contexts
  • Lead the teaching and development of specialist Building Control modules at the University, alongside related subject areas such as Fire Safety.

Our main requirements:

  • Professional teaching qualification such as Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) or willingness to study for this qualification, alongside HEA fellowship
  • Full membership of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (MCABE), Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • Relevant industry experience in the role of a built environment practitioner or established research/CPD or tutoring record
  • Understanding of current developments in Building Control and built environment practice or education
