Job description

We are looking for a Lecturer in Biology and Health to join our Adult Education Team. This is a 21 hours per week, part-time role offering a salary of £30,202 to £41,769 per annum (pro rata).

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out formal scheduled teaching on programmes ranging from level 1 to 4.
  • Undertake a personal tutor and/or course leader role to groups of students to maintain high achievement rates.
  • Prepare delivery plans, sequenced learning plans and learning materials.
  • Mark students’ work and/or examinations and carry out internal quality assurance.
  • Work as part of the team in the monitoring, reviewing and evaluation of all aspects of the programmes, including work placements.
  • Maintain appropriate College and appropriate university records, and the follow the College Quality processes.
  • Participate in self-assessment procedure to monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Carry out student reviews and tutorials.
  • Contribute to curriculum development.
  • Participate in student recruitment to include marketing activities and interviews.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Level 2 or above English/literacy and maths/numeracy
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in biology or a related area
  • Recognised full teaching qualification or be working towards a level 5 teaching award or equivalent within 2 years
  • Able to evidence successful teaching experience of teaching post 16 students and adult students’ biology across a variety of levels and qualification types
  • Knowledge and understanding of application of biology and health research methods, theory and application
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge and practice of effective and inclusive group teaching and learning strategies.
  • Have experience of developing and delivering customised, differentiated learning materials
