Job summary

University of the West of England Bristol seeks a permanent Lecturer to strengthen the Bar Training Course. You must be a qualified barrister or solicitor with England and Wales practice, to teach criminal subjects and related skills.

You will join a dynamic, innovative team at our Frenchay campus, with some days at home. The role offers a clear path for development and a balance between teaching and practice.

Qualifications

• Must have current or previous practice as a barrister or solicitor in England and Wales with expertise in criminal subjects.
• Experience teaching in a Higher Education setting is desirable but not essential.
• Strong communication, organisation and time-management skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Teach, assess and support students on the Bar Training Course (BTC) full-time and part-time delivery.
• Lead BTC modules after probation year.
• Supervise dissertations and research projects.
• Provide academic and pastoral support as personal tutor.
• Participate in outreach and recruitment activities when required.
• Collaborate with leadership to advance innovative teaching and learning.
