Job summary

About The Role

Tyne Coast College is seeking two dedicated Learning Support Team Leaders to join our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team. This is a pivotal role in ensuring learners with SEND receive tailored, effective support that enables them to thrive.

As Learning Support Team Leader, you will:

  • Coordinate and manage Learning Support Assistants and Communication Support Workers.
  • Lead on timetabling, staffing forecasts, and budget planning.
  • Monitor and improve support delivery, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Oversee medication administration and accessibility equipment.
  • Develop and deliver training for support staff and awareness sessions for college‑wide staff.
  • Collaborate with SEND Advisors and curriculum teams to promote inclusive learning.
  • Represent the ALS department in internal and external meetings.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and development of the Learning Support provision.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Extensive and current knowledge of SEND, including neurodiversity and mental health.
  • Proven experience in inclusive education and supporting learners with complex needs.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above).
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous improvement.
Desirable Qualifications And Experience Include
  • Level 4 or higher in Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEND, or Inclusion.
  • Specialist training in autism, ADHD, mental health, or speech and language.
  • Knowledge of ALS and FE funding mechanisms.
