Job summary

A leading educational institution in South Shields is seeking a Learning Support Team Leader to coordinate a dynamic team.   • Proven experience in inclusive education and supporting learners with complex needs.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage Learning Support Assistants and Communication Support Workers.
  • Lead on timetabling, staffing forecasts, and budget planning.
  • Monitor and improve support delivery, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Oversee medication administration and accessibility equipment.
  • Develop and deliver training for support staff and awareness sessions for college-wide staff.
  • Collaborate with SEND Advisors and curriculum teams to promote inclusive learning.
  • Represent the ALS department in internal and external meetings.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and development of the Learning Support provision.

  • Specialist training in autism, ADHD, mental health, or speech and language.
  • Knowledge of ALS and FE funding mechanisms.
