Mental Health Teaching Assistant - Reigate

Are you looking to kick‑start your career in the Mental Health Sector? Want to support the mental health of young people?

A well‑respected specialist school near Reigate is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The students range between 10 and 16 years old and face a variety of challenges – trauma, anxiety, OCD, and behavioural issues. The role requires a consistent role model, strong relationship building, empathy and a willingness to take on a challenge.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Act as a consistent role model, demonstrating empathy, resilience and positive behaviour.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt lessons and interventions for individual student needs.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with the specialist team as needed.
• Assist with behaviour management strategies and promote well‑being initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Open‑minded, resilient and knowledgeable about mental health.
• Experience working with SEN children or adults in any setting.
• Graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Counselling or similar disciplines are highly desirable.
• Right to work in the UK – no visa sponsorship.
• Ability to travel to Reigate and surrounding areas.

Working Hours & Remuneration

• Start date: ASAP
• Pay: £90–110 per day, Monday to Friday, 08:30 am–04:00 pm
• Term‑time only, PAYE
• Excellent on‑site training, support and CPD provided.
