Job Title: Learning Support Assistant with L3 BSL Specialism
Type of Business: Public Sector
Location: Rotherham, S65 1EG (Cross Campus as required)
Hours: 25hrs per week, for 37 weeks worked. Term time plus 1 training week
Salary: 23,971 per annum 1 FTE (pro rata 13,642.53) plus extra 6.59ph when carrying out BSL duties.
Start Date: As soon as possible

GI Group are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work within a busy Additional Learning Support team for our Public Sector client. In this position, you will provide both in‑class and out‑of‑class support to assist students with learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring they achieve their best possible outcomes. Your responsibilities may include supporting students with personal care, literacy, and numeracy. The role also involves providing British Sign Language (BSL) support and note‑taking as required. As a key member of the Student Support team, you will collaborate with curriculum staff to plan, prepare, and review learning activities, provide feedback, and conduct progress reviews to ensure students are meeting expectations and working toward their outcomes. You will need strong interpersonal skills to effectively support students, manage challenging behaviour, and guide them in developing their own coping strategies.

Key Requirements
  • A minimum Level 3 British Sign Language qualification is required.
  • Experience supporting students in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND, ALS and EHCPs.
  • You must hold or be working towards achieving Level 2 qualifications (Grade C or above) in Maths and English.
  • A willingness to work towards an adult learner support or equivalent qualification is essential.
