A caring educational institution in Hatch Beauchamp seeks an experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide tailored educational support for Key Stage 2 children with special educational needs, including autism spectrum conditions. The ideal candidate will have a background in supporting children with additional needs and a passion for excellence in education. This role offers the chance to work in a nurturing environment committed to integrating children with their peers.
This is a new and exciting role which will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to support the development and delivery of high quality, effective educational provision for up to eight Key Stage 2 children with mild to moderate ASC and/or Speech, Language and Communication needs. Working alongside the Unit's teacher and Higher-Level teaching assistant, the LSA will support the delivery of an engaging curriculum within a nurturing and supportive environment. We have high expectations for what all children can achieve and are committed to supporting our pupils to be the very best they can be. The successful candidate will bring experience of supporting children with SEND, including supporting children with ASC, SEMH and/or S&LC needs. This may have been through supporting children with additional needs in a mainstream school, in a SEND unit or in a special school setting. Just as important is that you share our passion and commitment for excellence – for doing the best we possibly can for the children in our care, and the enthusiasm and drive to make the Hatch SEND Unit an exceptional place for pupils to learn and grow.
About the school Hatch Beauchamp is a village about 10 minutes to the east of Taunton. It is home to the small primary school with 30 children across two classes, and with a reputation for being particularly caring and inclusive. The school prides itself on its Christian values, and aims to ensure all pupils feel happy, secure and valued – enabling them to make a positive contribution as young people in their community. The new unit will support 6 to 8 Key Stage Two children with mild to moderate ASC and/or speech, language and communication needs who may struggle to make good progress in a mainstream class on a full-time basis. Pupils will be supported by a team of three in the unit (teacher, HLTA, LSA) who will deliver tailored provision, underpinned by the ACE curriculum. Staff assigned to the unit will be supported by a wider team in the school as well as specialist staff from across ACE. The unit will benefit from a specially designed classroom, an 'experience workshop' and outdoor space to support effective, tailored provision. However, it is important that the unit and its pupils are an integral part of the wider school, with opportunities built in for children to integrate with their mainstream peers wherever possible.
