Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a SEN school in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire. Full-time and part-time opportunities available. You will support students with ASC, SEMH and learning difficulties, helping them access learning and develop independence.

We welcome candidates with care, youth work or education backgrounds and a patient, empathetic approach. Training and ongoing professional development are provided, with a dedicated consultant support throughout

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in care, youth work, coaching or similar backgrounds is welcome.
  • All applicants must meet the appropriate qualifications and training requirements.
  • A safeguarding DBS check and training are required or completed via Protocol Education.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of SEN needs to access learning.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive classroom and nurture independence.
  • Provide support both inside and outside the classroom as required.
  • Foster wellbeing and successful learning for every pupil.

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a welcoming and supportive SEN school in Thornbury. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are looking to build a rewarding career supporting children with additional needs.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties
  • Communication and Interaction needs

You will help create a positive learning environment, support students both in and out of the classroom, and encourage independence and personal development.

We Are Looking For Candidates Who:
  • Are patient, caring and resilient
  • Have a passion for supporting children and young people
  • Have experience working with SEN, care, youth work, coaching, support work or similar backgrounds (desirable but not essential)
  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Are committed to promoting the wellbeing and success of every learner

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
