Job summary

Aldercar High School in Nottingham is seeking a motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our Inclusion team. You will work with teachers and the SENCO to support pupils, including those with special educational needs, ensuring engagement in learning and school life.

The role involves providing individual and small-group support, preparing resources, monitoring progress, and contributing to safeguarding and welfare.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities required.
• Experience supporting pupils, including those with SEND, is desirable.
• Ability to work in a team and manage tasks effectively.
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group support to students, including targeted interventions
• Support teachers in planning and delivering learning activities
• Assist pupils in staying on task and engaging with their learning
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
• Support pupils’ social, emotional and physical wellbeing, including personal care where required
• Help students adjust to new situations and provide reassurance when needed
• Prepare resources and assist with classroom organisation
• Support behaviour management in line with school policies
• Act as a link between home and school for identified students
• Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime activities
• Provide basic first aid support where required (training provided)
• Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support to staff
