Learning Support Assistant – Aspiring Drama Therapist

Location : Maidenhead

Start Date : 17th November

Hours : Monday–Friday, 8 : 30am–3 : 45pm (term time only)

Pay : £101.40 per day

Trial / observation days available

Are you a Drama graduate or aspiring Drama Therapist who believes in the power of expression and movement?

This specialist school in Maidenhead supports pupils with autism, sensory differences, learning disabilities and a number of students who are non-verbal or have limited speech. The school is seeking Learning Support Assistants who are empathetic, patient and excited to communicate beyond words.

In this role, creativity truly becomes a language.

Your background in drama, performance or creative arts means you can :

  • Build trust through play, mirroring and expression
  • Encourage engagement through role-play, improvisation and visual prompts
  • Support emotional understanding in a safe, imaginative space

You’ll learn to interpret communication through body language, AAC, symbols, Makaton or sensory resources—empowering each student to be heard.

Your responsibilities
  • Work with pupils 1 : 1 or in small groups
  • Use drama-based strategies to promote communication and social interaction
  • Support emotional regulation and independence through creative activities
  • Follow individual learning and therapy plans with teachers and specialists
  • Help create a calm, safe and engaging learning environment
  • Assist with personal care if required (full training provided)
