TeacherActive is seeking an ALN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs in a safe, calm environment. You will provide 1:1 or small group support, assist with communication using visuals or assistive tools, and help with personal care and mobility as needed.

Ideal candidates have at least 6 months experience with additional needs, experience in SEND settings, a patient and nurturing approach, strong English, the right to work in the UK, and a DBS check (enhanced).

Competenze

• At least 6 months experience supporting children or young people with additional needs.
• Experience in SEND schools, care work, support work, or youth work.
• A patient, nurturing and calm approach.
• Strong spoken and written English.
• The right to work in the UK.
• A 5-year employment history with any gaps explained.
• Two years of references, including one from education or care.
• Enhanced DBS check (and overseas police checks if needed).

About the Role Supporting Complex Needs

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will help pupils access learning and daily activities in a safe, calm and supportive environment.

You may support pupils with:

• Severe Autism
• Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
• Complex communication needs (non-verbal pupils)
• Sensory processing needs
• Physical or medical needs

Your daily responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 or small group support
• Supporting communication using visuals, symbols or assistive communication tools
• Helping pupils with personal care and mobility if required
• Supporting sensory activities and sensory regulation
• Helping pupils take part in learning, play and life skills
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff
• Creating a calm, predictable and structured environment

Essential Requirements
