A local government authority in Coventry is looking for an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to aid in delivering essential skills courses. The role involves supporting tutors and assisting learners with special educational needs. Successful candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK and may need to travel across various venues. The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.
We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.
We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.

Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

Coventry Adult Education Service deliver a number of English, Maths and Digital courses throughout the city. You will be working with a diverse group of learners from many backgrounds and many different age groups. You will also be working with learners with learning difficulties and disabilities.
You will be supporting learners in class who wish to improve their English, Maths or Digital Skills or be working with learners who are working towards an English, Maths and Digital Skills qualification.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
We are looking for an enthusiastic learning support assistant to work within the Essential Skills Team. In consultation with Delivery Managers, you will support the tutors with the delivery of learning material to individuals or small groups of learners, including learners who may have a range of special educational needs. You will provide assistance to learners with additional learning needs enabling them to participate as fully as possible in English, Maths and Digital Skills Courses.
You will at times work across a number of curriculum teams ensuring that learners are supported in meeting their educational needs and liaise with other colleagues and agencies as appropriate.
You must be able to travel to various venues across the city.
