Job summary

A recruitment consultancy is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a temporary role in Bromley. Learning Support Assistant

Location: Bromley

Pay: £13.10 per hour

Hours: 26 per week, Monday - Friday

Contract: Temporary contract until July 2026

About the Role

Our client is looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to join their team. You will provide vital support to learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning opportunities, develop independence, and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • To assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of the support managers and curriculum team leaders
  • To support the development of self-advocacy and independent learning skills of learners.
  • To contribute to the assessment of students’ learning and personal progression, working with relevant members of staff to contribute to the development of person-centred support plans.
  • To provide support and assistance to learners for their personal care, safety and well-being.
  • To anticipate barriers to learning and participation, develop intervention strategies to minimise difficulties.
  • To gain a thorough knowledge of, and be sensitive to, the learner’ needs and learning objectives while on their study programme.
  • To ensure learners are able to access and fully utilise College support services and facilitate and participate productively in college life.
  • To ensure that specialist equipment, assistive technologies and / or facilities are available and operational where necessary.
  • To ensure learners with additional physical / medical needs have access to supervision and support as necessary.
  • To ensure any mobility problems within the building and other safety issues in line with College Health and Safety guidelines are reported to support managers
  • To assist in the review of learner’s progress in line with college policies and ensure individual support plans are updated and teaching staff are aware of any barriers to learning.
  • To liaise, necessary, with outside agencies e.g. parents, key workers etc and forward information on to support managers.
  • To attend meetings as and when required.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting SEN learners in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond sensitively to learner needs.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Knowledge of MAKATON / BSL is desirable.
  • A current Enhanced DBS (within the last 3 years) and relevant overseas police checks if applicable.
Additional Requirements
