Job summary

Somerset Council's Virtual School is seeking a Learning Mentor on a permanent 37-hour basis. The role covers Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils who cannot attend school, tracking attendance and progress, arranging education packages and supporting transitions across the county.

It is frontline and caseload-based, with travel across Somerset. Right to work in the UK is required; sponsorship is not offered. Hybrid working is available where service needs allow.

Qualifications

• Experience in education or a related setting.

Responsibilities

• Improve attendance, engagement and outcomes for Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils.
• Monitor and track attendance, progress and outcomes on council systems.
• Support transitions into education settings and remove barriers to learning.
• Attend EHCP annual reviews, TAC and TAF meetings, with clear reports.
• Travel across the county to fulfil duties and liaise with families and professionals.
