Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting for a Mixed Year Group Learning Mentor to support pupils with SEN in a Sparkhill primary school, Birmingham. The role is full‑time and involves working with students from Year 1 to Year 6 across Key Stages 1 and 2, including those with autism and behavioural needs.

The successful candidate will build positive relationships, promote engagement and support emotional and academic development, collaborating with teachers and the SENCO to tailor support and adapt

Mixed Year Group Learning Mentor - Sparkhill

Aspire People is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Learning Mentor / Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a welcoming primary school in Sparkhill, Birmingham.

This is a full‑time, ongoing role working across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (Year 1–Year 6), supporting pupils with autism and additional behavioural needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in building positive relationships, promoting engagement, and supporting pupils' emotional and academic development.

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, including autism and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored support strategies.
  • Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
  • Adapt approaches to meet the individual needs of each child.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism and behavioural needs.
  • A calm, consistent, and patient approach.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Flexibility to work across different year groups.
