Learning Mentor/Pastoral Officer

Headteacher: Mrs Kati-Anne Roughley

Status of Post: Temporary initially until 31st August 2026 with strong possibility of extension

Hours of Post: 37 hours per week term time only plus 5 days

Grade: F

Starting Date: ASAP

The Governing Body of Haslam Park Primary School wishes to appoint an outstanding team member to undertake the role of Learning Mentor/Pastoral Officer. This role is key to maintaining good attendance, delivering therapeutic interventions, and supporting pupils and their families to overcome barriers to learning, aligning with our values of “Explore, Learn and Grow.”

The successful candidate will be resilient, ambitious, proactive, enthusiastic, conscientious, and self-motivated. The ability to build successful relationships with parents, pupils, and professionals is essential.

Responsibilities include:
  • Having high expectations of children’s behaviour and attainment
  • Possessing thorough knowledge of “Working together to improve school attendance”
  • Exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Having recent and relevant experience of working with children
  • Understanding trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience working with external agencies
  • Being organized, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Being hardworking and a motivational team player
  • Leading “Early Help” provision
  • Contributing to the safeguarding team
  • Engaging parents to support and challenge their children’s learning
