Overview

Location: Manchester M21
Contract: Full‑time Daily Rate: £100 – £120 per day

About the Role

Our secondary PRU in Manchester (M21) is seeking a Level 3/HLTA Senior Learning Mentor to lead learning sessions, support behaviour, and contribute to the wider development of the unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead small‑group and whole‑class learning in the teacher’s absence
  • Deliver planned academic and pastoral interventions
  • Support behaviour management across the PRU
  • Mentor junior Learning Mentors and support staff
  • Contribute to planning and adapting activities for individual needs
  • Work closely with senior leaders on pupil progress and behaviour
Qualifications
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent
  • Confident delivering learning independently
  • Skilled in behaviour management and de‑escalation
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stay calm, assertive, and supportive in high‑pressure moments

Day in the PRU

Morning check‑ins: “How are you doing today?” “What do you need?”

Small classes (4–8 pupils) with flexible lessons to support emotional regulation

Behaviour coaching: managing emotions, resolving conflict, and re‑engaging with activities

Targeted interventions: anger‑management sessions, social skills work, mentoring conversations, tailored academic support

Teamwork: staff support each other constantly, radios and shared de‑escalation strategies keep the day running smoothly

Moments that matter: small victories, seeing confidence grow week by week
