Overview

Job Title: Learning Mentor

Location: Devon & Cornwall

Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, Term Time Only)

Contract: Ongoing temporary with potential to go permanent

Start Date: September 2025 onwards

Pay: Competitive, based on experience

The Role

We\'re looking for a committed and supportive Learning Mentor to work with children and young people who need extra help to access education. This could include students with social, emotional, or behavioural challenges, as well as those with learning difficulties or at risk of exclusion.

The role involves working closely with pupils both in and out of the classroom, building positive relationships, helping them manage their emotions and behaviour, and supporting their academic and personal development.

What You\'ll Be Doing
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Helping students stay engaged, focused, and on track with learning
  • Building trust and encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Working alongside class teachers and SENCOs to support learning plans
  • Promoting inclusion and a positive school experience for all learners
  • Supporting reintegration, transitions, and ongoing development
What We\'re Looking For
  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN or SEMH needs
  • A patient, calm, and non-judgmental approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for travel between schools)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
