Job summary

A supportive educational organization in Exmouth is seeking a Learning Leader to assist Deaf children and young people in achieving their full potential. Job description

Axcis Education is proud to support a SEND school specialising in support for students with complex needs who are part of the deaf community. The school is seeking a compassionate, motivated Learning Leader (teaching assistant) in Exmouth to support Deaf children and young people to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with teaching staff, the Learning Leader will help remove barriers to learning, deliver targeted interventions, and contribute to an inspiring and fully inclusive educational environment.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teachers to prepare and deliver lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Communicate with pupils in a sensitive, supportive manner, adapting approaches to meet individual communication needs.
  • Promote full inclusion, ensuring Deaf students—and all students—are fully supported in classroom and wider learning activities.
  • Champion the safety and wellbeing of young people in line with the Academy’s safeguarding policies.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of Student Support Plans, ensuring interventions are well recorded and effectively implemented.
Qualifications and Compensation

• Full‑time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.
• Salary around £20,000 term‑time only (pay rate dependent on skills and experience).
• BSL level 1 or 2 is desirable; the school will train up to level 2. Anyone holding a level 1 or 2 BSL has a high chance of success.
• This is a temporary position, unless stated otherwise.

• A qualification suitable for the role is required. Candidates must be prepared to attend a face‑to‑face interview with Axcis to demonstrate suitability.
