Job description
Responsibilities
  • Helping to create a positive environment for each young person with particular reference to his/her safety, health and education.
  • Helping to carry the homes ethos and values through to the young people and represent Blue Mountain Homes as a professional.
  • Maintaining good professional practices in accordance with Ofsted Regulations and the Quality Care Standards for children's homes.
  • Engaging in the effective delivery of residential childcare in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Accountable to Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.
Shift and Working Hours

Our normal shift patterns are on a rolling Rota basis and our shift working hours are: 08.00am‑23.00pm per shift, which means days of working can vary from week to week. Sleep‑in shifts are required. All applicants must have a valid manual UK/EU Driving License.

We are looking for dynamic youth mentors who have a desire to engage, guide and bring a positive influence in the lives of the young people in our care. You will be looking after Young People with mild to moderate learning disabilities, so experience working with Autism, ADHD and non‑verbal and knowledge of Makaton or PECs is desirable. Training and qualifications will be provided but the most important quality we are looking for is a commitment and a desire to bring about a positive change in the lives of young people.

  • Learning disability: 1 year (preferred)
Licensing / Certification
  • Manual Drivers Licence (required)
Background and History

Job Types and Salary
  • Full‑time, Permanent
  • Salary: Up to £34,048 annually (£12.70 – £13.60 per hour, £60 per sleep).
  • Salary dependent on qualifications and undertaking 8 sleep’s per month.
  • Competitive salary with incentivised overtime at plus £3.50 per hour.
