Responsibilities
  • You will be an expert practitioner to support acute hospital staff to meet the needs of people who have complex needs through innovative provision of reasonable adjustments.
  • You will work autonomously and prioritise your workload according to capacity and demand.
  • You will work collaboratively with the acute Trust on agreed initiatives to improve knowledge, skills and practice at supporting people who have a learning disability (e.g. champions network, training, reasonable adjustments).
  • You will attend meetings as agreed with the Clinical Lead to promote access for people who have a learning disability and/or autistic people (e.g. promoting reasonable adjustments, hospital passports, champions, etc.).
  • You will develop the skills of students and junior staff.
  • You will maintain a visible profile within the service (e.g. involvement in promotional materials, activities and to encourage liaison from acute trust services).
  • You will contribute to and deliver training as required to acute hospital staff.
Qualifications
  • Passionate about ensuring equitable access to our acute services for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
  • Excellent knowledge of the range of reasonable adjustments that can be provided and a commitment to advocate for people.
  • Ability to tailor communication to work effectively with service users, families and professionals, including in multi‑disciplinary meetings and when providing training.
