Job summary

CFA Institute is seeking a Learning Designer – Institutional Solutions to shape the design and delivery of professional education across our growing B2B portfolio. You will work on digital, live, and AI-enabled formats, establishing standards and scalable approaches to learning design.

We are looking for a Learning Designer – Institutional Solutions to help shape how we design and deliver professional education across our growing B2B portfolio. This is an opportunity to influence learning design at both a strategic and practical level, establishing consistent approaches and quality standards while creating engaging, evidence-based learning experiences across digital, live, and AI-enabled formats.

Reporting to the General Manager, Institutional Solutions, you will work closely with the Senior Director, Curriculum and Learning Delivery, technology colleagues, subject matter experts, and external partners to develop learning solutions that are engaging, scalable, and grounded in the needs of institutional clients and their learners.

What You'll Do

• Shape the learning design approach across the Institutional Solutions portfolio, developing consistent methodologies, standards, and best practices for adult and professional education.
• Own learning design governance and quality assurance, ensuring educational products deliver coherent, engaging, and effective learning experiences across different formats and audiences.
• Design and develop interactive digital learning products and live learning experiences, applying evidence-based principles such as cognitive load theory, spaced repetition, and active learning.
• Design and facilitate instructor-led learning, including virtual and in-person workshops, bootcamps, webinars, and cohort-based programmes, ensuring consistency alongside self-paced and AI-enabled learning.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, learning designers, multimedia developers, client stakeholders, and external technology partners to translate complex content into engaging educational experiences.
• Apply learning science and adult learning principles to guide instructional design decisions, content development, and the creation of effective learning pathways.
• Explore and apply AI-powered content generation and authoring tools to prototype new learning experiences and personalise approaches for different institutional audiences and delivery platforms.
• Develop assessment frameworks that align learning objectives, instructional activities, and evaluation methods to support measurable learning outcomes.
• Analyse learner feedback, engagement data, and learning analytics to evaluate effectiveness and continuously improve learning products.
• Recommend portfolio-level learning design decisions to the General Manager, Institutional Solutions, helping shape the evolution of educational products and delivery approaches.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrable experience designing and delivering engaging digital learning products, ideally within professional education, enterprise learning, executive education, or other adult learning environments.
• Experience leading online learning design projects, including MOOCs, high-stakes adult learning programmes, B2B learning, or executive education, is particularly welcomed.
• A qualification in instructional design, learning science, education, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Strong understanding of learning science and adult learning principles, with the ability to translate educational theory into practical, effective learning experiences.
• Experience designing and/or facilitating live, virtual, and cohort-based learning, including workshops, bootcamps, and instructor-led programmes.
• Familiarity with developing facilitator materials, including train-the-trainer guides, facilitator scripts, and supporting learning resources.
• Experience using AI-powered content generation and authoring tools to create, prototype, or enhance learning experiences across different audiences and platforms.
• Proficiency with digital learning authoring tools and learning platforms, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Learning Experience Platforms (LXP).
• An understanding of educational technology, multimedia learning, and emerging trends in AI-enabled and digital education.
• Experience using learner feedback, analytics, and performance data to evaluate learning effectiveness and inform improvements.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with subject matter experts, technology teams, external partners, and senior business stakeholders.
• Effective communication, consulting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, engaging learning solutions.
• An organised and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across international teams and cultures.

Compensation and Benefits

This position may be based in eligible jurisdictions in the United States or United Kingdom (London).

At CFA Institute, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring process. In compliance with wage transparency laws in many of the jurisdictions in which we recruit, we provide the following information regarding compensation for this position:

Expected salary range:

US, Metro Locations (New York, NY and Washington, DC): $119k - $150k per year

US, National Locations: $95k - $127k per year

UK, London: £57k - £75k per year.

UK, National:£51k - £68k per year.

All salary ranges are subject to adjustment based on experience, education, and other factors relevant to the position including location. Additional benefits include eligibility for an annual incentive bonus, a 12% employer contribution to a 401(k) or pension plan, and a comprehensive medical benefits package.
