The Parish of St Saviour is seeking a Waste & Recycling Operative – HGV Driver to lead the household and commercial waste collection teams on St Saviour’s Parish. You will drive HGVs, perform pre-use checks, ensure waste is collected safely and in compliance with environmental and safety standards, and support operations to maintain high service standards.

The role emphasises offsite working, collaboration with the Highway and Waste teams, and flexibility to attend meetings outside normal

Qualifications

• Essential: HGV licence including Hiab training and Accredited driver CPC.
• Essential: Banksman skills and training.
• Essential: Manual handling competency.
• Experience in waste collection and transfer operations is preferred.
• Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team; strong safety focus.

Responsabilités

• Safely operate HGVs on parish roads, in line with Road Traffic Law and parish policies.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects to keep fleet safe and efficient.
• Carry out waste and recycling collections according to routes and schedules.
• Identify and report operational issues such as blocked access or unsafe locations.
• Maintain clear communication with managers, supervisors and residents to ensure service quality.
