Job summary

Village Vet Berkhamsted, part of Linnaeus Veterinary Limited, is seeking a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our established team in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. The role blends hands-on first opinion practice with leadership responsibilities, guiding clinical standards and mentoring colleagues.

We offer up to £75,000 DOE, 42 hours per week over 4 days (including weekends with flexible rota options) and relocation support for direct candidates.

Qualifications

• An experienced small animal Veterinary Surgeon with strong UK first opinion practice experience (at least 5 years) confident managing routine medical and surgical cases independently.
• Previous experience in UK general practice essential, enabling leadership of the clinical team and independent decisions.
• Ready to take ownership of a practice, influence clinical standards and inspire those around them.
• A collaborative leader who enjoys supporting and developing colleagues whilst creating a positive, inclusive team culture.
• Excellent communication skills with a passion for building trusted client relationships.
• Strong interest in companion animal medicine and surgery, particularly dogs and cats.
• Leadership experience welcomed but not essential; open to senior clinicians stepping into a Lead role.
