Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking an experienced Lead Tutor to head the development and continuous improvement of Adult Skills English and Maths provision. You will lead curriculum quality, support tutors, and ensure engaging, inclusive learning that helps learners achieve their goals.

You will work with the Delivery Manager and Quality Team to drive curriculum development, learner success and transformation, while continuing to teach and inspire learners through your own delivery.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering English and/or Maths to adult learners, with a track record of improving learner achievement.
• Hold a relevant teaching qualification.
• Experience supporting, mentoring or leading teaching staff, including sharing best practice and contributing to quality improvement.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, quality assurance processes and awarding organisation requirements within adult education.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with learners, colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

Are you passionate about improving adults' lives through high-quality English and Maths education? We're looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Tutor to join our Adult and Community Learning team.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and continuous improvement of our English and maths curriculum while supporting tutors to deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality learning. You'll play a key role in raising standards, embedding English and maths across the wider curriculum, and helping learners achieve their goals. Working closely with the Delivery Manager and Quality Team, you'll contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, learner success and continuous improvement, while maintaining excellent relationships with learners, colleagues and partners.

Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you'll continue to teach and inspire learners through your own delivery. We're looking for someone with experience of teaching English and/or maths to adults, a recognised teaching qualification, strong knowledge of quality assurance and curriculum development, and the ability to support and develop others. Most importantly, you'll share our commitment to helping adults gain the skills, confidence and qualifications they need to progress in learning, employment and everyday life.
