Job summary

A supportive primary school in Islington is seeking a passionate Teacher of the Deaf to shape high-quality education for Deaf pupils. The role involves leading the Deaf Provision, delivering tailored teaching, and training staff in BSL. Applicants must have Qualified Teacher Status and demonstrate a commitment to inclusive education. Ideal candidates will possess a deep understanding of Deaf culture and be skilled communicators. This full-time position starts in September 2025 and runs until July 2026, with a salary of £58,094 - £62,771 based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status and be a fully qualified Teacher of the Deaf.
  • Experience working with children with Hearing Impairment and in BSL communication.
  • Understanding of Deaf culture and specific educational needs of pupils with Hearing Impairment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Deaf Provision and work closely with SENDCo and leadership.
  • Deliver personalized teaching and interventions for pupils.
  • Use BSL to ensure access to learning and communication.
  • Support staff in BSL and inclusive SEND strategies.
  • Monitor progress and develop targeted plans for pupils.
