Job summary

Catch22 College is seeking a Lead Teacher to provide effective leadership and management on a dedicated site for 14-19 learners with complex needs. You will deliver a safe, aspirational curriculum and teach a minimum of two days per week while fulfilling leadership responsibilities.

You will need a QTS qualification (or working towards it), experience with challenging behaviours, and line management exposure. A driving licence is required for travel.

Qualifications

  • Post holder must have a driving licence.
  • Experience with a cohort of young people including those with complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs.
  • Line management experience with KPIs and regular supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a Vocational Qualification and delivering a high quality curriculum.
  • Build effective relationships with students and families/carers.
  • Manage and monitor the timetable; deploy staff effectively.
  • Oversee development of subject area and schemes of work.
  • Lead on improving teaching and learning following college procedures.
  • Support staff development to deliver outstanding teaching.

Job Description

As Lead Teacher you will beprovidingeffective leadership and management on a specific site for a College for 14-19 year olds, delivering a safe and secure education provision for students with complex needs and behaviours.

As the Lead Teacheryou will be managingthe educational environment, which supports and motivates students with complex needs, whilst they undertake a high quality and aspirational curriculum.

You will bewilling teaching a minimum of 2 days per week and 3days fulfilling the leadership and management responsibilities.

Teaching and learning:

  • Teaching a Vocational Qualification
  • Building effective and supporting relationships with students and families/carers; embed that trust and support within the education process.
  • Managing, implementing and monitoring the timetable, so that teachers and support staff are deployed effectively and efficiently, ensuring learner success.
  • Overseeing and coordinatingthe development of your subject(s) area.
  • Planning, producingand updatingschemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements, taking into account guidance from the DfE and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all current requirements..

Leadership and management:

  • Managingand analysingperformance data and report to Centre Manager. Takingappropriate actions to address areas of under performance.
  • Being the lead for improving the quality of teaching and learning by following and implementing the College’s observation of teaching and learning procedures.
  • Managingand implementing the contribution review process by setting targets for individual and team performance. Managingdirect reports and dealing with staff under performance effectively and timely.
  • Supporting the training and development of staff to ensure the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
  • A recognised QTS qualification (or willing to work towards), .
  • Designated Safeguard Lead
  • Experience of working with a cohort of young people including those with complex, high behaviour and additional learning needs.
  • Line management experience, setting KPIs and conducting regular supervisions.
  • An extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
