Job summary

ARM LIMITED in Southampton seeks a Lead Systems Safety Engineer for a 6-month contract. You will provide specialist safety guidance to the SDA, ensure safety activities align with plans, and drive hazard analysis across ISANKE and IC St TP systems.

The role requires experience in safety-critical industries, cross-team leadership, and familiarity with ARP4754B/ARP4761A and related standards. Active SC clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant STEM degree or equivalent.
• Experience in safety analysis of complex safety-critical systems.
• Experience across multiple engineering lifecycle phases.
• Experience leading and delivering a safety work package across teams.
• Knowledge of ARP4754B, ARP4761A, RTCA DO-254, or DO-178C (Desirable).
• Knowledge of lasers, radar systems, sensors or defensive aids (Desirable).
• Experience with Cameo, IBM DOORS, Adelard ASCE or Isograph tools (Plus).

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist safety advice to the SDA and support product safety authorization.
• Ensure safety activities follow the safety management plan and are complete and correct.
• Identify and analyse intrinsic hazards and mitigate residual risks to ALARP.
• Identify and analyse functional hazards and mitigate residual risks to ALARP.
• Elicit ISANKE/IC St TP safety requirements and cascade them down.
• Review individual TDP Subsystems for safety goals.
• Document integrated safety assessment per the safety management plan.
• Present safety assessment at Design Reviews.

Lead Systems Safety Engineer
Location: Southampton
Contract: 6-months
Pay: Up to £79p/h (Inside IR35)
Please note that due to the nature of the work you will need to already hold active SC security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist safety advice to the SDA, to support their authorization of the Product safety, in accordance with Company processes
• Ensuring that safety activities conducted on the Programme, within the scope of the TDP Systems, follow the plan described in the safety management plan and that the analysis is complete and correct.
• Identifying and analysing intrinsic hazards, including mitigation to reduce the residual safety risks to an ALARP level for the ISANKE and IC St TP System
• Identifying and analysing functional hazards, including mitigation to reduce the residual safety risks to an ALARP level for the ISANKE and IC St TP system
• Eliciting ISANKE and IC St TP safety requirements and flowing these down to the appropriate level
• Reviewing individual TDP Subsystem
• System safety analysis and incorporating the outcomes in the integrated ISANKE and IC St TP system.
• Review aircraft level safety analysis and ensure it aligns with ISANKE and IC St TP TDP Systems safety analysis
• Documenting the integrated ISANKE and IC St TP TDP Systems safety assessment as described in the safety management plan.
• Presenting a summary of the integrated ISANKE and IC St TP TDP Systems safety assessment at the ISANKE and IC St TP TDP Design Reviews.

Essential Skills and Experience
