Job summary

Ekco is seeking an experienced Lead SQL Server DBA to head its Managed SQL Service. You will act as the technical authority for the practice, ensuring estates are maintained to the highest standards of availability, performance, security and compliance.

You will mentor DBAs, manage workload, and drive proactive health checks, capacity planning and performance baselining across client estates.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on SQL Server administration across multiple versions.
• Strong HA/DR knowledge and backup/recovery expertise.
• Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, T-SQL).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the Managed SQL Service team.
• Ensure SLAs are met and manage the workload of the DBA team.
• Oversee documentation, runbooks, and client configuration records.
• Lead database installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support for the managed service.
• Present findings and recommendations to client stakeholders.
