Job description

Lead Specialist, Content Developer (Maths)

Hybrid

United Kingdom

Are you ready to shape the future of maths education?

This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in the development of the UK's next generation of mathematics qualifications. Joining Pearson's market-leading Maths Qualifications team, you'll be at the centre of major qualification reform, helping to influence how maths is taught, assessed and experienced by learners for years to come.

We're looking for an experienced qualification development professional to lead high-profile projects across research, design, development and delivery. Working with experts across education, assessment, policy and regulation, you'll help ensure our qualifications continue to meet the evolving needs of teachers, learners and the wider education sector.

Location & Ways of Working

This is a hybrid role and can be based from one of Pearson's UK office locations. Whilst there is flexibility around where you are based, regular travel (UK) will be required, particularly to London, as qualification reform activity ramps up. Candidates should be comfortable travelling a few times per month to collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders and project teams.

What you'll be doing
  • Leading the development and delivery of major qualification development and reform projects.
  • Using customer insight, market research and educational trends to shape future qualifications.
  • Designing and redeveloping specifications, assessment materials and qualification documentation.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across product, assessment, research, policy, operations and marketing teams.
  • Building strong relationships with subject experts, customers and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to colleagues, supporting the development of less experienced team members.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction of Pearson's maths qualifications portfolio.
What we're looking for

You’ll be an experienced education professional with a strong track record in qualification, curriculum or assessment development.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience developing qualifications, assessments or curricula within education.
  • Confidence leading complex projects and managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong understanding of working within a regulated environment.
  • The ability to influence, collaborate and build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience gathering and applying customer insight to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently while delivering high-quality outcomes.

Experience working with maths qualifications is desirable, although we would welcome applications from candidates with experience in other closely related subject areas.

Why join us?

Opportunities to work on qualification reform are rare. This role offers the chance to influence nationally significant qualifications at a pivotal moment for education. You’ll join a team that is passionate about delivering outstanding outcomes for teachers and learners, while working on projects that have real impact across the UK education system.

If you’re looking for a role where you can combine educational expertise, strategic thinking and leadership to shape the future of maths education, we’d love to hear from you.
