Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in London seeks a senior software engineer to design, implement, and maintain data-intensive applications across enterprise platforms. You will work with AI-assisted tooling to improve code quality, automate remediation, and enhance operational stability.

The role requires hands-on experience in large-scale data processing, microservices, API design, and cloud-native architectures, with a strong emphasis on security and responsible AI use.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in engineering and architecture, including AI/ML, with hands-on experience designing, implementing, testing, and ensuring operational stability of large-scale enterprise data platforms
• Advanced skills in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C/C++, or C#
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases and data lake architectures
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code with modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Experience in large-scale data processing, microservices, API design, Kafka, Redis, MemCached, observability tools, and orchestration tools
• Experience leading enterprise AI-assisted software development practices with focus on correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and security
• Experience coaching senior engineers on compliant usage patterns and controls
• Proficiency in automation, CD methods, and all SDLC aspects
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, resiliency and security
• Practical cloud-native experience
• Experience with Databricks or Snowflake
• Hands-on experience with Spark/PySpark and big data processing
• Proficiency in data engineering, cloud, AI/ML, or mobile disciplines
• Knowledge of the financial services IT landscape

Responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions, including design, development, and troubleshooting to solve complex problems
• Develop secure, high-quality production code for data-intensive applications and review code written by others
• Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues and improve operational stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and credentials
• Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and outcomes
• Apply knowledge of SDLC toolchains, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities
• Drive communities of practice across software engineering to promote new technologies
• Foster a team culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect

Requirements:

• Practical cloud-native experience

• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within disciplines such as data engineering, cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
