Job summary

The Very Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for an initial 6 Month Contract (Inside IR35). The role is on-site at Speke HQ two days a week, working within FS squads to deliver secure, scalable software in line with TVG Engineering standards.

You will provide technical leadership across multiple squads, mentor engineers, influence architecture and technology choices, and drive continuous improvement in a DevSecOps environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering software in lean, agile DevSecOps squads.
• Proficiency in multiple languages, frameworks, and modern tooling.
• Experience providing clear technology leadership and decisions.
• Experience building and managing complex software architectures across multi-cloud environments.
• Experience delivering secure, reliable, scalable, highly available software.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Comfortable sharing stories to build The Very Group brand.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and coach software engineers to excel and grow skills.
• Champion the SDLC standards and reusable components with Engineering Managers.
• Maintain a high-performing team and foster a collaborative culture.
• Lead software technology selection for the squads you work with.
• Act as a technical expert across sub-communities and tech leaders.
• Identify cost-optimisation opportunities proactively.
