Lead .NET Software Engineer | London | £95,000–£120,000 + Bonus + Hybrid

Location: Central London (Hybrid: one a fortnight onsite)

Salary: £95,000–£120,000 + performance bonus + excellent benefits

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a high-growth SaaS organisation in Central London that is scaling its cloud-based platform and strengthening its engineering leadership. As part of this growth, they are seeking a Lead .NET Software Engineer to guide a talented team within a modern, high-performance engineering environment.

This is an opportunity to lead from the front, owning architectural direction, driving technical excellence, and ensuring delivery of scalable, resilient systems in a cloud-first, microservices-driven environment. You’ll be a hands‑on leader, balancing coding, mentoring, and strategic influence across multiple teams and initiatives.

The Role

As a Lead .NET Software Engineer, you will combine hands‑on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including:

  • Designing and leading the development of scalable backend services using .NET 8 (C#)
  • Architecting cloud‑microservices and distributed systems on AWS
  • Driving engineering standards, best practices, and technical excellence across teams
  • Leading architectural discussions and guiding long‑term technical strategy
  • Collaborating with product, DevOps, and front‑end teams to deliver high‑quality solutions
  • Mentoring and coaching engineers to help them grow their technical and leadership skills
  • Overseeing delivery quality, performance, and maintainability across services
About You

You are an experienced, hands‑on technical leader who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges. You’re comfortable taking ownership of architecture and delivery while empowering others to do their best work.

You’ll bring:
  • 8+ years of commercial experience with C# / .NET Core / .NET 6+
  • Proven experience designing and building distributed, microservices-based systems
  • Deep understanding of AWS (ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, etc.)
  • Strong background in API design, asynchronous/event‑driven architectures, and system scalability
  • Expertise with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps tooling (GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps)
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and influencing cross‑functional teams
  • Commitment to engineering quality, clean code, and continuous improvement
Nice to Have
  • Experience leading or scaling engineering teams within a SaaS or cloud‑first environment
  • Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS patterns
  • Exposure to serverless architectures and event streaming (Kafka, SNS/SQS, etc.)
