Job summary

Apple is seeking a lead backend engineer for the Cloud Object Store to help shape the direction of one of Apple's largest storage platforms used by internal services at exabyte scale. You will own hard problems in multi-tenant isolation, availability, durability, and performance, and mentor teams across multiple groups.

You will drive end-to-end architecture, improve system efficiency, and help evolve the platform while maintaining strong reliability and security practices.

Qualifications

• Backend software engineer with CS fundamentals: networking, filesystems, security.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience driving complex projects end-to-end and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Identify, scope, and lead major projects that materially impact reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability of the storage platform.
• Drive architecture decisions in your focus area and represent that direction in cross-team design reviews and roadmap discussions.
• Mentor other engineers and raise the technical bar for testing, observability, and operational readiness.
• Take on new problem areas across the storage platform as priorities shift, applying depth of ownership.
